The Oceanmaker

 The world was drab. Money was irrelevant. A massive company named kind-fuel was testing oil drilling. When the public asked what kind-fuel was doing the answers were always vague. “I don’t know what are you doing?” Kind-fuel got so big that they had managed to dry out the seven seas! 

Water was lacking. Jenna, a young girl 17 to be exact, had spent the last month or two working on a world saving project named ‘The Rainmaker!’  “Let's set out!”Jenna says. As she looks up she sees  one small transparent cloud; this is her only hope. As she flies up her engine flickers BANG! Hwe engine says as she hits it. She is looking solemn. She can do this!

“Rumble rumble rumble” said the engine ZOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM her hair was in her face she could barely see that two planes were rushing past her. The water bandits had big cone catcher or moister cones. When Jenna flew over the small cloud the water bandits noticed her Ping! The bullets slammed into the metal on the bi-plane creating a large high pitched sound “Quick!” she thought, as she flew above the cloud It looked as though the sun was shrinking. As the last bullet was shot a massive SMASH. The window broke. She felt a pain in her gut. “OH NO! First the engine then this!” “BRmmmmmm '' the engine said once again Rain started to fall. As the engine starts to break and the bi-plane falls plummeting to the ground.

My Five Senses For Pizza.

My Five Senses For Pizza. It looks a little bit oily and when you pull the pizza you can feel the bottom of the pizza feels floury. When you pull the pizza a cheese stretch oozes out. WHen you cook it you might be able to hear the cheese melting and bubbling. Depends what pizza you get, the smells sometimes smell different. A parmesan pizza or a classic four cheese's pizza sometimes stinks a little. Pizza is my favorite food.

Quick Write

If I could change the world it would be pretty hard to choose what to do. One thing that is close to my heart is to stop cancer. Another thing that I would love to do is to clean the world from pollution and get rid of it forever. The last thing is to end homelessness and starvation because when I go to town it gets pretty sad. It's just that healthy people that can afford food like myself take this for granted. And when we see people struggling it really hits home, the world I dream of is so much more different than what it is in reality. I just wish that we can change the world before it is too late. What I do to help is recycle cardboard and try to buy less packaging and I also turn off water when I don't need it.

 I would rather be the star actress because it would be thrilling and exciting to perform on the big screen. If the film is bad the audience can’t blame it  on you they would have to blame it on the director which would be comforting. I would probably star in a horror or a comedy oh wait something even better would be a comedy horror! Some parts would be scary and I would use my scream and others would be funny and I would try not to laugh. I would probably die first because of how scared I would be. I would hide!

I had to make a list of words that rhyme with home. Lately I have been learning about the four spheres and I added two of them.

New Zealand History

         New Zealand History

Around 1250-1300 New Zealand was settled by the Polynesians. Many many years later in mid 1800 so like 1845 the Europeans arrived. In between the Treaty happened. Both of the groups had to change for the environment and the human race. 

The Polynesians are the ancestors of the Maori. They found New Zealand-- Aotearoa by using the water currents, wind, cloud and sun. At night they used the stars, moons and the water currants. They found the land from migrating birds. The birds disappear at some point every year and then they come back full,  at some point somebody wanted to find out where they were going.

The Treaty Of Waitangi is an agreement between the British and the Maori. The English name is The Treaty Of Waitangi, the Maori name is Te Tiriti O Waitangi. William Hobson wrote the treaty and Henry Williams translated it. In the Maori treaty it said that the Maori would have control or sovereignty over their land. But in the English version it said that Queen Victoria would have sovereignty/control over the Maori’s land. That started the land wars.

After the Treaty was signed the British paid people from England to come live in New Zealand. The package from the government included a trip on a merky, smelly, noisy small boat and a bit of land to make a home and to start a farm. On a boat it took about 6 weeks to travel from England to New Zealand. The Early European settlers had pretty big families so you would most likely have to share a room or two (if you were lucky ) with around 10-18 people. In this time period people thought the girls were weak and the boys were strong and muscular. So the girls did the inside work like cleaning, cooking etc. The boys did the outside work or so the fun work like hunting and making resources. 

People change when they move to a different place. No one can keep everything from another place. You have to change and do some things differently. Some things will make life easier and some changes will make life harder. So sometimes you can’t take your pets which is sad but you can live without them!

The Bridle Path

Hello Aunty Margret and Uncle William,

Mother and Father awoke too early on the second day of the Bridle path walk. I got picked up from a family of five Three girls Two Boys. They basically adopted me and they are really kind but the house is small and sad when it rains it is like an indoor shower! Around the house I sometimes cook with Mother in the new house and I make the beds.

The boat was quiet in the day, loud in the night, we couldn't go to the loo normally we had to do it’ in a bucket and once it's full we have to dump it overboard! Sleeping was not very comfortable. We slept on a pile of hay that attracted mice and everybody snored! It was like the boat wanted me to get sick!

Anyhow, how is home, is it the same? I had a thought that everything changed, and it scared me! In New Zealand I mean don't get me wrong it's beautiful but it is quite boring and what I do for fun is go collecting with my new siblings. I have many feathers and shiny stones!

 If I could be famous for anything it would be an architect and interior design. I would love to have a show on TV or Netflix. I would especially love to make tiny houses because they are cheaper and they don't take up lots of room, and some of them can even move! It is more important now than ever to make houses for the less fortunate so I think it'd be great fun to do!

How are you and the kids going? I’m ok,

last night I had almost no sleep because I was on watch duty.

The trenches are smelly and cold, bugs (mostly sandflies) fill the air.

I miss you alot!  I hope Dawn and Nevil are healthy and good kids.

Oh the mail is getting dropped off soon so I better go.

Eyelashes

 Eyelashes are important to us even though not many people notice them. They protect our eyes and this is what they do. 

Eyelashes do many jobs in protecting our eyes, they protect us from particles in the air like dust or sand. Dust in the air is almost invisible but it is there. When dust/ sand gets in our eyes it can damage our eyes and make it itchy. But our eyelashes sweep it out like a broom.

Another way eyelashes protect your eyes is from the sun . The sun will come at your eyes and the eyelashes shade your eyes. Your bottom lashes protect your eyes from glare. Even though eyelashes give your eyes protection you still need to wear a hat and some sunnies. 

People say that males are attracted to long eyelashes, so many people put on something called mascara. Mascara is makeup for the eyelashes, Mascara makes the eyelashes long and thick. People even boys put on some eyeliner, eyeliner lines your eyes! But it makes your eyes darker. 

Your eyelashes are important because eyelashes sweep away dust and/or sand , block the sun and look attractive.

Waipara Camp 2021

 On the 2nd day of camp we went down to the lake at Waipara camp. We went down to the lake to learn how to kayak. I was feeling a bit nervous and I was tapping my leg. First when we got there we learnt how to get in the kayak and how to use the paddle. After that we had to get on the safety gear. First we put on the helmet then we put on the life jacket. After that we set out, first we went through a trail then we played in the big area. By this time I was feeling a lot more happy and achieved. One of the came that we played was a game called candlesticks, In candlesticks the taggers paddle around the area and if your kayak gets tagger you put your paddle up like a candlestick. Your teammates can un-tag you the way that you got tagged. The other game we played was named sponge tag. It is like tag but you have to throw a sponge in order to get the person out.

Shave for a cure

 Me and two other of my friends decided to do something to change other people's thinking about cancer and to raise awareness about it. We were going to shave our hair off! But first we had to raise money from our friends and family. Fast forward two months we have made over $3000 as a team! So the day came and at school we shaved our hair off and we started a dress-yourself day! And guess how much money we raised from the dress yourself day? If you guessed $907 then you are correct! Now that’s a lot of money! We shaved our heads smooth and we felt really proud! I really hope that people after reading this will understand more about cancer and maybe even one day we might find  a cure!

 Why do pandas poop so much?

Did you know that pandas poop over 100 times a day? The reason is because they mostly only eat bamboo and bamboo is not all that healthy. Bamboo is low in protein and high in fiber. That's why I eat sultana bran when I am constipated! Anyway the poor diet means that panda cubs are born tiny, helpless and even blind. Now that's sad.
